cue: this is how we do it.

after about eighteen years of homework, walking in single-filed lines, bathroom breaks,
class schedules, books, notebooks, number two pencils,
standardized testing, dining hall food, moving, moving again....
I've made it. It is time. It is senior year.

a part of me is crying. i honestly can't believe society genuinely accepts 22 year olds into their club.
i feel like i just graduated high school, and things like pumping my own gas
and scheduling my own appointments still freak me out.
but, like, Obama can do it...I guess I can too.

as a way to (sort of) celebrate our senior-ness, we went out in NYC.
as you do.

i don't know if you know this, but some of my friends are models

straight flexing.

"no, don't take a *flash*"

these are my best friends.

i went to the beach.........beach.

(disclaimer: when posting beach segments, always *always* quote nicki)
~~~~
can you summer sans beach? is that even legal?
i feel like every life deserves a healthy dose of beach.
that is precisely why my friends (+sister) and I headed down to the quaint little beach town
of Cape May to explore its old-people-loveliness.
i've said it before and i'll shamelessly say it again, Cape May is my favorite beach town.
from working in the city every day...it's a much-needed transition to a comforting quietness.
there are of course, a lot of retired old people.
but i really enjoy old people so it's okay.
Cape May is also so small that even when you're a tourist, you can walk around the town, see the same
person twice, and they'll say hi to you like you're a local.
and that's one of my favorite parts.
we found this visually entertaining boutique right in the center of the town, filled with colorful clothing and midget-sized mannequins clothed in armor.
then, we went to one of the five million soap shops (because again, old people)
and bought some deliciously smelling soaps.
oh...and there were monkey farts.
mucho monkey farts.
the first time my family and i went to Cape May, i think i was around 14 years old.
my grandma just rented a house down there for a week and my mom, sister, and i made the
road trip down there to be with her and her friends for a few days.
and i remember everything very vividly.
i remember...
walking around the town with my grandmom and sister.
buying mountain dew-smelling soap.
eating cheesesteaks on the beach
renting a large tent and having a waiter bring us crackers and cheese
(i'm still not sure how that happpened)
these DEL-I-CIOUS lemon poppy seed cookies that
my sister and i have spent our hard-knocked lives trying to find.
having a huge breakfast every morning
and loving every aspect of being down there.
candid.
my sister just got off the boat from mexico, however she misses it dearly.
hired me as a life guard on the spot. had no choice but to be a hero.
i'm pretty sure my friends know they're beautiful. but in case a reminder was needed...
we out here.
 on the way home...we grubbed.
and creeped.
enjoy your summer,
my 'merica day
so once a year the nation comes together to celebrate the birth of 'merica.
that day was not today. it was actually a couple weeks ago.
fail marisa.
though today might not be thaaaaat special, perhaps it's special in its own way.
for instance...today, i went to a coffee shop. well...(brief self dialogue):
who am i kidding, no need to be cryptic and hipster. you're not that cool)
 i went to starbucks.
to start off properly...i went target-walking (favorite pastime) but this time, i was on a mission.
someone at work was eating carrots and hummus and you know when you're not hungry
but see someone else eating and suddenly you NEED to eat food?
and not any food...ONLY that food?
well yes, that particular craving took hold and i needed hummus and carrots.
so i went to target.
while there, i stopped by my favorite sections of the store: purse clearance, shoes, books, unhealthy snacks, healthy snacks, curly hair products, and makeup (in that order).
after wasting a good 35 minutes, i finally made it to the checkout and i was ready to go home
when decided to gaze a little too long into the eyes of that green haired goddess.
(sorry, i know...i am not a stephanie meyer. i should get to the point.)
~~GETTING TO THE POINT~~
seeing the sign and barely anything else, i didn't realize the line was kind of long.
but i was like this coffee needs me. so i jumped in and waited.
........and waited.
....and waited.
waited.
wait.
wa.
until i finally got to the counter where a very nice, solo worker called jay
apologized for the wait and upgraded me to a venti when i asked for a grande.
he also complemented me on my patience and didn't charge me for my
two shots of vanilla (yes--i'm that customer).
it's funny because i'm really notttt patient. like at all.
probably how you guys feel with the point of this post.
what i'm trying to go with is to appreciate everyday...no matter if it's a day to celebrate or not :)
__________
this was my 'merica day:
we went to the free philly concert...which had approximately one bajillion people there.
(well, behind this dementor looking thing...)
doing the sister thing.
celebrate any day,
the harem pant
whoa. hold the phone.
so you're telling me you can walk into your workplace
with classy pants that double as pajamas...and still retain your job?
what.
gurl, yes(!)
harem pants have been around since the 80s (and likely even sooner)
thanks to that awesome dance (don't remember?)
but oh how, ohhhh how has the harem harmonized (um...excuse me marisa?)
BAM.
sandals | dsw
bag | primark
harem pants, also known as "slouch pants," are a pretty excellent item
to have in your wardrobe, simply because they're SO incredibly versatile.
you can easily go from office life to going out.
or--if you're like me--the office to snuggling up in your bed because
these things are so darn comfy.
i am definitely on the hunt for more! these harem pants were only around
$13-14 at forever21.
(^^obvi me in an attempt to look semi cool #mmmnotworking)
 oh, and also...
 this is me proposing to my best friend danielle because she's my favorite =D
enjoy your lovely day!
